It seems incredible, but two of the world’s most popular applications developed by Google were not available on some operating systems developed by Google. We are talking about Gmail and Google Calendar on smart watches with Wear OS. The email app was launched last week and Now it’s time for the famous calendar application.
As it began to emerge a year ago and Google confirmed a few months ago, the two apps were supposed to go hand in hand. However, there is a few days difference between their releases. The important thing is We can finally check our calendar From a smartwatch with Wear OS.
The usual Google Calendar but reduced in size
We put “new” in quotes when talking about Google Calendar because, as you can imagine, it is nothing new. It’s been around for almost 20 years but has never been available on Wear OS (even its predecessor, Android Wear, was released in 2014). In any case Now officially available on Google Play and free For watches with Wear OS 3 or later.

The idea isn’t to revolutionize the way you use smartwatches. Not at all. It’s just about providing basic functionality on Wear OS such as: view calendar events or tasksalthough not much more.
Google Calendar app for Wear OS offers a tailored interface but just as colorful. It is not for nothing that the modules of each event now retain that legendary look with colorful backgrounds or images. Given the size of the watches, we see only a few events at first, but it is possible to scroll down to see the rest, as well as events planned for the following days.
But, it is not possible to create new events or add more tasks. Even if we understand that the size of the watch is not the most suitable for this, it is at least strange that this possibility is not offered (even via voice dictation). We’ll have to see if this is possible in future updates.
As a final touch, like Gmail, Google Calendar There’s a complication in Wear OS. In it, you can preview part of the next event we have noted on the calendar.
