Google brings generative AI to healthcare

At the HLTH ’23 conference in Las Vegas, Google announced new features of Vertex AI Search. The platform will now be equipped with functions to better support healthcare and other life sciences.

At the HLTH ’23 conference currently taking place in Las Vegas, Google announced that it is expanding its Vertex AI platform to include specific features for healthcare and other life sciences. The company also goes into more detail about this in a blog.

According to Google, it is not always easy for healthcare workers and medical staff to quickly find the information they need. It is sometimes a real search, especially for unstructured data, such as data about patients. That’s why the tech giant is now rolling out dedicated Vertex AI Search capabilities for healthcare and life sciences companies.

This allows organizations to work with an AI model that is trained to search for medical information from all possible sources. The new features integrate with Google Cloud’s Healthcare API and Healthcare Data Engine and include Google Care Studio’s search and aggregation capabilities.

Clinical tests

Several US organizations are currently testing certain aspects of the new features:

  • Highmark Health – Healthcare organization that will use Vertex to optimize internal productivity and access to information for its customers
  • Hackensack Meridian Health – Healthcare organization continuing its overall modernization with Vertex
  • care.ai – Platform for medical and healthcare organizations that Vertex wants to use for better management, among other things
  • Mayo Clinic – Hospital chain looking to improve its solutions with Vertex
  • MEDITECH – digital company looking to use Vertex for its file solutions

Google Cloud customers and partners can sign up now Early access of the new functions. Google ensures that this data also enjoys the security of its cloud services and is not accessible to others.

A few days ago, the American identity and access management company Okta also announced a partnership with Vertex AI.
