Modern consumer processors do not support older versions of Windows. This is well known to fans of old computer games whose task is to collect a computer for retrogaming. However, an enthusiast with the pseudonym O_Mores managed to run Windows NT 4.0 on the latest Intel CPU and without using a virtual machine.
The author described his project on Reddit. In general, the launch process turned out to be quite complicated. The author took an SSD with the Windows NT 4.0 operating system, which is already installed on some old computers. He then connected this drive to a modern computer based on a Core i3-13100F.
Of course, this method will not work without additional manipulations. However, to solve this problem it was necessary to use the UniATA driver.
Judging by the video, the system worked perfectly, including allowing you to run games. We will remind you that Windows NT 4.0 was released in 1996, that is, almost 30 years ago. At the same time, single-core processors with a frequency of up to 450 MHz and 350 nm technology, such as the Pentium II, were also available on the market.
