To make Direct to Cell a reality, SpaceX is equipping some Starlink satellites with an “advanced eNodeB modem.” This improvement will turn these satellites into “space base stations” similar to those used for roaming. SpaceX is also exploring the possibility of collaborating with cellular operators to strengthen support for its Direct to Cell service.
