The name “heart rate monitor” that we use to describe a device used to monitor heart rate falls far short of the level reached by current smartwatches. The Polar Vantage V3, which was just introduced, is a good example of this premium equipment with all kinds of functions for sports activities.
Polar Vantage V3 is the third generation of one of the most complete series of the manufacturer, together with Garmin, certainly the best seller in the “heart rate monitor” category, which is overshadowed by a large group of smart watches that, in addition to sports, add functions for monitoring health parameters and other options typical of smart watches connected to mobile phones.
The Vantage V3 has a 1.39 inch touch AMOLED display which has been enlarged closer to the edges to give users a larger viewable area with a density of 462 pixels per inch. The company says the processor speed is 129% faster than the V2 and has 32GB of internal memory.
Autonomy has also been improved, allowing (according to Polar) up to 140 hours of training on a single charge in power saving mode and up to eight days of time display. We’ll have to test it without power saving and in real physical activity with all sensors activated…
And we’re talking about sensors, as the watch debuts the fourth generation of Polar’s optical heart rate sensor, which is designed to minimize light leaks, improve energy efficiency and provide 25% more accuracy compared to the third generation.
In addition to the main sensor Polar adds three morepulse oximeter, ECG and skin temperature sensors plus dual-frequency GPS with offline maps pre-installed on 32GB of built-in memory and detailed support provided by Komoot.
As expected of a multi-sport device, it supports more than 150 activities and is compatible with all the software features present in the Polar Grit X Pro as well as new features such as Smart Coaching’s advanced algorithms.
The Polar Vantage V3 supports standard 22mm bands without the need for an adapter and is available for pre-order in three colorways. Its official price is 599 dollars. High, but in exchange you will surely get the best Polar watch.
