The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) canceled the launch of astronauts into space due to a coolant leak from the spare radiator of the Russian Nauka module on the ISS.

This was reported by Space.com, according to Ukrinform’s report.

It has been noted that the leak that occurred a few days ago has already stopped. However, a representative from NASA said that the astronauts’ ascents planned for October 12 and 20 were canceled and the agency was waiting for the results of the review.

Ammonia is toxic, so additional precautions should be taken when entering an open area near this substance.

The first traces of a possible ammonia leak from the Russian “Nauka” module were noticed at the Flight Control Center in Houston during a broadcast from the ISS.

This is the third leak of Russian ISS equipment in the past year.

According to Ukrinform, in December last year, an external leak was detected from Roscosmos’ Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft docked with the International Space Station.

In February, the Progress MS-21 cargo ship docked with the ISS had a coolant leak in its thermoregulation system. It sank in the Pacific Ocean on February 19.
