This was announced in a Telegram by the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukrinform reported.
“ICANN has allocated $1 million to Ukraine to support the stable operation of the Ukrainian field system. Its smooth operation is a critical component of the Internet,” wrote Fedorov.
He noted that since the Russian invasion, Ukraine’s domain system has been subject to massive cyberattacks and investment in defense system is needed to keep it running smoothly. The support agreement was reached in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance team, the ICANN board, and Ukrainian stakeholders of the domain name industry.
“We continue to support the stable functioning of the Internet in the face of armed aggression. We thank the teams of Internet providers, administrators and domain registrars for the cooperation,” said Fedorov.
As reported, the Ministry of Digital Transformation is developing a strategic plan for the development of the Ukrainian IT sector after the war.
