From 2025, there will be a ban on the use of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles in central areas of the Swedish capital.
The Associated Press reported this, according to Ukrinform.
“We need to eliminate harmful exhaust gases. That’s why we are implementing the most ambitious low-emission zone today,” said Lars Strömgren, head of Stockholm’s transport department.
He explained that his goal is to create an ecological zone where only electric vehicles will be allowed. At the same time, according to the official, there will be exceptions, especially for emergency service vehicles and transportation for disabled people.
Currently, there are restrictions on the operation of gasoline and diesel vehicles in many capitals of EU countries. However, Strömgren assured that a complete ban on this type of transport in Stockholm would be a first in European practice.
He added that the decision on the gradual expansion of the ecological zone will be made in the first half of 2025.*
As reported by Ukrinform, Amsterdam authorities have decided to completely ban motorcycles, as well as gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles, from entering the city from 2030.
