Generating an image with AI or having AI write a first version of a text will soon be possible via the Google search bar.
Stop saying “search” when talking about Google’s search function and say “Search Generative Experience” or SGE. The tech giant brings the creative possibilities of generative AI directly to its search bar. This allows users to have the technology generate a first version of a text or new images. This concept was launched in May.
The idea is that when you search for something on Google, you often have something specific in mind. This is especially true with images.
When you enter a text prompt in the search bar, the system provides four options. You can then choose one of them and build on the detailed description the AI has already provided.
You can work in a similar way in Google Images. When you enter a description, a window will appear between the options, allowing you to let the AI suggest new images.
However, the possibilities are not endless. Google does not allow harmful topics, this content is blocked. Further security for the creations is a watermark and metadata indicating that it is an AI image.
Currently, the SGE feature is only available in the US and in English to those who have signed up and are at least 18 years old.
SGE is not just limited to images, the system can also generate text. For example, you want to update the offices and search for relevant companies. Once you find the required information, the system can send an email to request a quote.
You can then complete this text suggestion in Docs or Gmail. Google assures that these export functions are also subject to Workspace’s data protection regulations.
This version is rolling out today in the US in English and also to those who have signed up for it. The latter is possible via Search Labs, but unfortunately with the same restrictions.
Earlier this week, Google also launched generative AI for healthcare.
