Thanks to sensors, the Acer SpacialLabs View Pro 27 knows how you look at the screen, eliminating the need for 3D glasses.

The 3D hype in TVs and monitors has died down for more than a decade, but that doesn’t mean the technology is dead. The Acer SpacialLabs View Pro 27 features a 27-inch 4K panel that gives creative professionals the ability to view stereoscopic 3D images without 3D glasses. To limit the incidence of light, Acer also includes a removable hood with the monitor.

Users can seamlessly switch between 2D and 3D. The panel supports a refresh rate of up to 160 Hz and has a brightness of 400 nits. The colors should be displayed precisely on the screen with a DeltaE value of less than two, which should be sufficient for creative professionals.

In addition to the sensors that track your eyes, there are also two speakers at the bottom that are supposed to provide you with 3D sound that matches the 3D image. How realistic the end result of two small 2.5 watt speakers will be remains to be seen.

Add-ons and design software

The monitor comes with ready-to-use applications such as SpatialLabs Model Viewer and design software add-ons that help speed up workflows and create 3D content. There is compatibility with Unreal and Unity, so developers from all industries and disciplines can easily create and present designs.

The Acer Steam VR Bridge allows VR and XR developers to transform their creations into 3D visualizations without glasses. Combined with Acer’s OpenXR-compatible runtime environment, the displays deliver stereoscopic images in compatible applications.

Price and availability

The monitor features an ergonomic stand that tilts, rotates and swivels and is height adjustable for the best viewing angle. The device also has HDMI 2.1, USB Type-C, DisplayPort 2.0 and 2x USB Type-A.

The Acer SpacialLabs View Pro 27 will be available from the first quarter of 2024. Acer will only announce a price target at a later date. The portable 15.6-inch Acer SpatialLabs View monitor appeared here (limited) with an average asking price of 1,200 euros without VAT. The chances are good that the new 27-inch model will be more expensive.
