In the future, you can visually visualize protocol problems within Jira thanks to, among other things, Loom’s video function.
Atlassian announces it is acquiring Loom for $975 million. Loom primarily offers a tool that allows you to create short videos that combine content from a camera with screen recordings. This way, instead of sending a document, you can send a link to a video that reaches your recipients directly.
Atlassian co-CEO Mike Canon-Brooks wants to close the gap in collaboration within distributed teams with the acquisition of Loom. “For example, once we integrate Loom, engineers will be able to create visual logging issues in Jira and executives will be able to use video to better engage with employees at scale. Sales teams can share specific video updates with customers and HR teams can welcome new employees with personalized welcome videos.”
Vinay Hiremath, co-founder and CTO of Loom, said Atlassian has been a major user of Loom for some time and is pleased to close the deal.
Today, integrated Loom videos are not yet possible. Atlassian’s CEO says it will continue to offer Loom as a separate product. He adds that the team is working hard to integrate Loom into the cloud across all Atlassian platforms. Anyone who uses Atlassian on-premises products is left out.
