Samsung S95B QD-OLED TV turned out better than the company described

Earlier this year, Samsung introduced the S95B QD-OLED TV with a new panel and 144 Hz support. And there is a nuance in the last point. The fact is that the Samsung website states the frequency of 120 Hz, and this is what the company was talking about during the announcement. However, it turned out that the TV is able to operate at 144 Hz, while maintaining the 4K UHD resolution.

The author of the HDTVTest channel conducted a series of tests and determined that the TV can indeed operate at a higher frequency than stated. It also runs in full 4K UHD without various tricks like reduced vertical resolution and doesn’t miss a single frame. Except in this mode, the color depth is limited to 8 bits.

Since modern consoles only support 120 Hz, you will need a PC for the TV to work in this mode. You also need a video card with HDMI 2.1 and the appropriate cable. The author tested a new GeForce RTX 3090. Everything worked fine, including G-Sync.

Thus, the Samsung S95B QD-OLED is a unique TV not only with its new panel, but also with its support of 144 Hz in 4K UHD resolution. Source
