Luis Alfredo Garavitoconvicted of the abuse and murder of almost 200 girls, boys and teenagers, died this Thursday in the prison where he was serving his sentence in the city of Valledupar in northern Colombia, the National Institute of Penitentiaries and Prisons (INPEC) said.
Garavito is considered Colombia’s biggest child serial killer and he ended up in prison after admitting to raping and killing 197 children across the country in the 1990s.
Known as ‘Beast’was arrested in April 1999 for attempting to rape a minor and was jailed in December 2002 on charges of forcible sexual intercourse, murder, forcible sexual intercourse, simple kidnapping and arson.

INPEC announced this in a brief statement.
Mr. Luis Alfredo Garavito Cubillos, detained in the city of Valledupar, died.
