A rare case: A two-headed snake was born

A reptile lover has vowed to do whatever he can to keep his pet snake, which was born with two heads, alive. Breeder Aden Johnson said he was stunned when the first bull snake egg hatched; One of them emerged from an extremely large shell with two heads.

The rare reptile hatched in July with a one-in-100,000 chance and is still thriving. The baby snake was supposed to be twins, but the embryo did not split and resulted in two heads and one body.

Introducing her new pet in one of her first videos, she said: “It’s alive and moving, both heads are breathing. “I doubt he’ll survive, but we’ll raise the cage and see if we can keep this guy alive.”

He adds: “You can see it strumming its tail, both heads are alive, and the only curve I can see is that curve in the spine.

“Hard to move etc. I don’t know which head does what.”

As the snake squirmed, he said: “Hissing defensively, both heads are fine.”

Aden adds: “It seems to be a big problem for them, they break down – I don’t know if it’s neurological or if they’re trying to pull themselves together and not being able to – it’s like the head is fighting to control the body.

“They seem responsive and healthy. As much as I want them to survive, I feel like life will be hard for them no matter what.”

Snakes born with two heads tend to have shorter lifespans, partly due to feeding problems. Two-headed snakes can be sold for a lot of money in America. Aden said: “How crazy, this is my first spawn and I created a living, two-headed snake.

“It’s just a miracle, very nice. Let me know what I should call it, guys.” Source
