After many rumors and leaks, the day has finally arrived. Today I can share with you all Intel Core Gen14 keys, a a new generation of high-performance processors for desktop computers, where the chip giant has done a minor renovation in general, as we face a series that preserves both the architectures and the Intel Core Gen13 manufacturing node.
What does it mean? Well, very simple, Intel Core Gen14 repeat monolithic core design and hybrid configuration with two core blocksone with high performance and the other with high efficiency, known as P-cores and E-cores. The former use the Raptor Cove architecture, have higher IPC and achieve higher operating speeds, while the latter are based on the Gracemont architecture and focus on reducing power consumption while maintaining good performance .
It uses Intel Core Gen14 socket LGA1700 and maintain full compatibility with the motherboards of the last two generations, that is, the ones they use 600 and 700 series chipsets. However, it is important to keep in mind that it will be necessary to perform a bios update to work properly unless we buy a new batch motherboard that is updated to work with these new processors. There is no mystery, because on the same box there is a direct mention of Intel Core Gen14.
And you can see them perfectly identified in the attached picture. With these new Intel processors, the top of the line debuts Intel Core i9-14900Krestores high range s Intel Core i7-14700K and also updates the premium mid-range with Intel Core i5-14600K. For those who do not need to have integrated graphics, Intel has also introduced KF versionwhich come with iGPU disabled.
The six new processors that kick off the launch of Intel Core Gen14 have multiplier unlocked, as the “K” badge clearly indicates, meaning we can easily overclock them by adding a Z690 or Z790 series motherboard. Later, Intel will expand this generation with new models within its “non-K” series, which, as our readers are sure to know, are characterized by being cheaper and having a locked multiplier.
The new Intel Core Gen14 uses an improved Intel 7 node and brings improvements at the level of power management, which allowed the chip giant to increase the operating frequencies of the Intel Core i9-14900K, Intel Core i7-14700K and Intel Core i5-14600K. , single-stranded and multi-stranded. As you might have imagined This represents a tangible improvement in performance in all scenarios, gaming and professional applications.
The Intel Core i7-14700K and its KF version no doubt are the most interesting model within the Intel Core Gen14 series, because in addition to this increase in operating frequencies, it also has four more E cores than the Intel Core i7-13700K, which allows it to significantly improve its multi-threaded performance compared to the mentioned model.
The 20 PCIe lanes (16 lanes of PCIe Gen5 and 4 lanes of PCIe Gen4), as well as a dual-channel memory controller compatible with DDR4 and DDR5 at 3200 and 5600 MHz, although thanks to Intel XMP 3.0 profiles we can use DDR5 at more than 8 GHz New motherboards are coming with 700 series chipset, with which the main manufacturers have already started to introduce WiFi 7and have a wide range of next-generation connectivity options.
New at the software level Intel XTU with the help of artificial intelligence, a tool that uses AI trained by the chip giant to individually analyze each computer and find optimal settings at the CPU level for overclocking, power consumption and resource management. It has a very simple interface and the process is completely automatic without the user having to do anything. At the moment it is only compatible with Core i9-14900K and KF, but will be extended to other processors later.
Another of the most important innovations presented by Santa Clara in the announcement of Core Gen14 was Intel Application Optimization. Intel itself defines it as “a new policy within Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology that determines and directs resources to applications in real-time”. Basically what it does is apply some degree of optimization to improve performance in games, although at the moment it only has support in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six and Metro Exodus and its compatibility is limited to Intel Core i9-14900K and KF.
Intel has also shared various performance data using the Intel Core i9-14900K and Intel Core i7-14700K and compared them to various AMD processors, as we can see in the various graphs you can find just below these lines. In games we see that the Intel Core i9-14900K scoring important victories in titles like Starfield and Metro Exodus.
It also offers Intel Core i9-14900K in professional applications clearly better performance than Ryzen 9 7950Xand the Intel Core i7-14700K beats it in many of these tests, too, thanks to its new 20-core, 28-thread configuration.
Creation a generational comparison In professional applications, we also see that the jump that the Intel Core i7-14700K has made compared to the Intel Core i7-12700K and the Intel Core i7-13700K is remarkable, and this is something quite normal, because, as I said before, more cores E and works at a higher operating frequency.
According to Intel, the new Core Gen14 improve game performance by up to 23% and the improvement in professional applications can be up to 54%. It is important that you keep in mind that we are talking about maximum values and that the averages will of course be lower.
The “KF” models are identical to the “K” models, except that they come with the iGPU disabled, as I mentioned earlier. The new Intel Core Gen14 will available from tomorrow. I still don’t have the official prices in euros, but most likely they will eventually cost the equivalent of converting the currency to euros and applying VAT.
The important thing is that in the end They won’t be much more expensive than Intel Core Gen13as suggested by some rumors we saw earlier.
