This was reported by Bloomberg, as reported by Ukrinform.
Rolls-Royce, headquartered in Derby, England, did not explain exactly where the cuts would be made, but about half of the company’s 42,000 employees work in the UK.
Erginbilgich explained that the layoffs were aimed at making the company “more optimized and efficient.” He added that the upcoming cuts would eliminate duplication and deliver cost efficiencies in the final phase of Rolls-Royce’s “multi-year transformation”.
The report also stated that the new modernization plan includes the creation of a new purchasing unit, which could have the impact of reducing costs and delays in the supply chain.
The company is said to cut 9,000 jobs worldwide in 2020 as it grapples with falling air traffic during the coronavirus pandemic.
As Ukrinform reported, in early February, American aircraft manufacturer Boeing announced plans to reduce the number of jobs at the company (in the finance and human resources sector) by 2,000 people due to the focus on engineering and production.
