Driving at a constant speed, planning your route in advance and being mindful of the weight of your load will help you use your fuel more efficiently.

It’s always important to check your tire pressure so your car can drive with less resistance while using less gas.

It is very important to choose the right tires for your vehicle as this will allow you to travel with greater safety and comfort.

When it comes to saving money on gas, it’s always a good idea to get some valuable advice; especially now that fuel prices in Colombia have risen significantly in recent months. So, Bridgestone has some important tips that can help you save money on the gas you use to drive your car with just a few small changes to your driving habits:

1. Trace your route: If you already know your destination, take advantage of this and plan your trip well before departure. This way, you can choose the most efficient route and arrive on time without unnecessarily prolonging your trip and therefore increasing your fuel consumption. For example, you can check in the app which route is the fastest to see if you need to make any adjustments to your trip planning.

2. Be careful when accelerating: When you step on the gas pedal, you are causing unnecessary fuel consumption. For this reason, we recommend doing it gradually and avoiding sudden steps that could lead to increased fuel consumption.

3. Maintain constant speed: If you are constantly braking and accelerating, you can significantly increase your fuel consumption. This is why you must find the pace of the pace at which the road you are driving is moving. We recommend that before braking, gradually release the gas pedal and finally brake smoothly. Typically, if you drive at a constant speed, your car will perform better and use fuel more efficiently.

4. Confirm your tire sizes: By using the correct tire sizes, you can save fuel and also avoid additional costs caused by possible deformation of the rubber.

5. Check air pressure: Always check tire pressure according to your vehicle’s specifications. Check your pressure at least once a month, as tires can lose up to one pound per square inch (PSI) every 30 days, and pressure can fluctuate depending on ambient temperature or operating conditions.

6. Reduce the weight of your car: One thing to keep in mind is that extra weight in your car makes it work harder and therefore reduces its fuel efficiency. If you have a trunk full of items you don’t need, or bike carriers, or a roof rack you don’t use, removing them can save gas.

7. Don’t forget about maintenance: Check your vehicle’s owner’s manual to ensure your maintenance schedule is up to date. Also, check all fluids to ensure they are at the correct levels. Finally, always remember to periodically align, balance and rotate your tires, as anything you do to ensure your tires rotate smoothly and efficiently can result in improved fuel economy.

“One of the main factors in improving fuel efficiency is maintaining tire pressure to the specified pressure. If your tires are below the manufacturer’s pressure for your vehicle, they will begin to lose performance and can lead to higher fuel costs. This is because when tires are not properly inflated, they increase rolling resistance, causing the car’s engine to work harder and burn more fuel,” said Nevardo Porras, technical sales manager at Bridgestone Colombia.

Likewise, it is important to have tires that are suitable for each type of vehicle, which have also been designed with the latest technology and provide a safe driving experience, such as the Firestone Destination LE3, an ideal tire for SUVs and crossovers, in the city and on the highway, which has improved characteristics, excellent wet grip and long service life. The Firestone Destination LE3 is a next-generation tire designed with advanced technology for superior all-weather performance.
