Seagate’s new 24TB Exos hard drive works with 10 2.4TB drives and is focused on hyperscalers and data centers.
The Seagate Exos X24 is designed for maximum storage capacity and highest rack space efficiency, with a focus on hyperscalers. The new 3.5-inch 7200 RPM Helium hard drive features both SATA and SAS interfaces and offers improved caching that Seagate says outperforms solutions that only use read or write caching.
The Exos X24 contains ten 2.4TB drives, making it the highest density hard drive in Seagate’s lineup.
The 24TB conventional magnetic recording (CMR)-based Exos X24 offers an important mix of capacity, performance and reliability. Seagate also continues to offer customers the flexibility of a Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR) Exos X24 configuration with up to 28TB capacity.
Exos It offers encryption technology with Self-Encrypting Drive (SED), SED-FIPS and Instant Secure Erase (ISE). The Exos X24 is offered with a 5-year limited warranty.
Seagate’s Exos X24 qualification drives are now shipping to key customers. The production drives will be available in bulk through distribution channels in December.
