Lenovo and Formula 1® work together to continually improve the fan experience: from content production to live broadcast, including the use of advanced technologies such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). The Lenovo ThinkReality VRX F1 project is the next step forward, now F1 fans can test themselves on the race track.

The new ThinkReality VRX all-in-one headset will allow racing fans to play an exclusive VR F1 mini-game during the upcoming FORMULA 1 LENOVO UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX 2023 in Austin.

Based on the iconic racetracks many of us played on as children, users control an F1 car on a replica of the track, controlling speed using the buttons on the ThinkReality VRX controllers. During playback, the user can view the track from different perspectives. The experience is just like traditional electric racing cars: drivers can drift through the corners, but if they accelerate too hard in a corner, the car can veer off the track and even fall off the table!

The production of the ThinkReality F1 experience used generative AI to design elements of the race cars and track, as well as voice-overs and programming support.

The Lenovo ThinkReality VRX F1 game will also be available at Lenovo’s Tech World 2023, taking place on October 23rd and 24th in Austin, Texas.

It goes beyond just having fun

The racing game is an opportunity to demonstrate the power and value of VR experiences and the ThinkReality VRX, Lenovo’s new all-in-one virtual reality (VR) headset for business.

From employee training and virtual collaboration to 3D design and engineering, XR technologies are becoming more important to businesses than ever, enabling people to get more done in less time and at a lower cost.

The ThinkReality VRX offers something truly unique to the market: an end-to-end enterprise XR solution. It includes not only advanced hardware, but also software and services to simplify enterprise XR implementation and achieve faster returns.

The ThinkReality ISV ecosystem is focused on key use cases that demonstrate real results and returns at scale:

  • Hard skills training to strengthen muscle memory and help employees learn by doing and fail confidently;
  • Soft skills training to help employees communicate better, develop their potential and learn more about their organization’s values;
  • Collaboration tools to improve team meetings, evaluate digital twins and organize special events;
  • Spatial computing applications such as virtual displays and AI-powered workflow applications that expand workspaces and increase productivity;
  • Wellness platforms that help employees reboot and refocus physically and mentally.

The ThinkReality VRX is supported by a broad portfolio of professional services. This includes flexible device management with the ThinkReality Cloud software platform and ThinkReality xR Services from consulting to content creation to implementation support. Like many of Lenovo’s business solutions, the ThinkReality VRX is supported by Lenovo’s Integrated Solution Support (LISS) for 24-hour global customer service and Device as a Service (DaaS) financing through Lenovo TruScale.

Lenovo believes smarter technology can revolutionize the way people exercise, work and communicate. The partnership with Formula 1 continues to demonstrate the power of Lenovo’s technologies, services and solutions on a global scale.
