Facebook responded to the blocking of posts about the Bucha massacre during Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine. Social networking representative Andy Stone said that hiding the posts is done automatically by the service’s algorithms.
The official response from Facebook came in response to statements by foreign journalist The New York Times Ryan Mack, who drew attention to the problem.
– It happened automatically because of the graphic content people posted using these hashtags. Andy said we quickly unlocked the tags when we found out about the problem yesterday.
A Facebook spokesperson denies that the moderators decided to block the content, citing an automated system for verifying posts.
It will be remembered that after the atrocities committed by the Russians in Bucha, network users began to distribute photos of civilians who were killed, tortured and killed en masse. Many used the hashtags #Bucha and #BuchaMassacre. Without explanation, his posts on Facebook and Instagram began to hide in the news feed.
It is clear that the Russians are complaining en masse about these hashtags to hide the consequences of their atrocities to take over Ukraine.
