As of the end of September, 3.19 million 5G base stations have been built in China, and nearly 70% of national economic sectors have integrated the technology to improve production efficiency.
People’s Daily reports this, citing the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, Ukrinform reported.
According to the ministry’s calculations, as of the end of last month, there were 22.6 5G stations per 10,000 people in the country, and the number of gigabit broadband users reached 145 million.
As of the end of September, China also held 42% of the world’s major patents for 5G technology.
As the ministry stated, 5G is most used in mining, energy supply and other industries, and this technology helps companies increase production efficiency and reduce costs. First of all, thanks to augmented and virtual reality based on 5G ultra-high-definition video, which simplifies production processes.
The ministry said digital technologies such as the Industrial Internet have profoundly revolutionized modes of production in traditional industries. Citing the results of its own survey, the ministry said nearly 85% of Chinese companies said their profitability had increased significantly after the implementation of 5G technologies.
According to the ministry, digital technologies such as 5G and artificial intelligence (AI) have made a number of public services more accessible. Notably, the country has launched 109 pilot programs for intellectual education with the help of 5G, which has led to distance education.
In medical services, patients can now consult doctors over the internet and receive treatment with smart medical devices.
The Ministry said that 5G-based ultra-high-definition video transmission and holographic interaction are widely used in live broadcasts of sports matches and cultural and artistic events. In particular, during the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8, a 5G-Advanced network with advanced 5G functions was installed, allowing spectators to watch the games in 3D without special equipment.
The Ministry is currently working on developing special 5G, artificial intelligence and big data programs to provide older people with greater access to digital life.
As Ukrinform reports, on Saturday, October 21, the American company SpaceX launched into space 21 more Internet satellites called Starlink, SpaceX’s Internet mega-constellation. It currently consists of approximately 4,900 operational satellites.
