Good day, very good news for streamers who broadcast mainly via Twitch, but are also interested in other live platforms, mainly YouTube. Good news, which is also a response to a long-term demand from their side, which has not yet found a response from the purple platform. And, of course, it is not difficult to understand the motivations of each party, since in both cases they are looking after their own interests.
I’m talking, you already deduced that from the title of this news, z multicast, i.e. the ability to broadcast the same live program simultaneously on several platforms, something that has been completely banned by Twitch until now. Recall that historically, the service has been quite restrictive when it comes to “sharing” its streamers with other platforms. For example, just over a year ago, it required exclusivity from all of its partners, meaning they couldn’t do live shows on other platforms, even if it was a non-Twitch broadcast.
Announced at TwitchCon, the purple platform has now finally broken even this limitation, announcing that it is now enabling multicast to all of its streamers (with the exception, of course, of those with exclusivity contracts) that the same live signal is shared across multiple platforms, which can perhaps serve to move the market a bit more, the streaming market, which many blame content creators, is at a low ebb, especially if we compare it to the historical highs it reached (for obvious reasons) during the pandemic and restrictions.
We announced that you can simulcast on ANY live streaming service!

Twitch puts, yes, some conditions enabling multicast, a rule that we can read here and which can be summed up in the fact that they focus on not offering their audience a consumer experience worse than the one that gets to the rest through the platform. For example, on Twitch you are not allowed to broadcast at a lower quality than on others, you are not allowed to ignore live chat, and you are prohibited from using third-party tools that allow you to display chats from different platforms on Twitch. (although this allows creators to use tools that unify them for their personal reading).
Even if the content creator economy remains, it is true that we are coming off an all-time high driven by very specific circumstances, and that when it falls caused a significant drop in their income. Thus, by adopting more flexible rules, Twitch makes it easier for creators to improve their monetization without having to do exclusive live shows on different platforms, and also allows users to choose the platform on which they prefer to watch their favorite creators. Progress and success, in my opinion.
