Russians help Hamas keep site “afloat”

The domain of Hamas’s official website is powered by the Russian company Selectel. Founded in 2009, St. Petersburg cloud infrastructure provider. Currently the company is one of the largest data center operators in Russia.

Selectel has a total of eight data centers in Russia. It was learned that the company plans to go public in May 2023 and has selected a site for placement. The provider has changed its parent company – the new owner is registered in the UAE.

It is worth noting that the founder and chairman of the board of directors of Selectel is Lev Leviev, co-founder of the Russian social network VKontakte, which is banned in Ukraine. It is ironic that he has Israeli citizenship as well as Russian citizenship.
