Microsoft is making its AI-based Security Copilot available to some customers in early access. The tool must answer security questions for specialists tailored to individual companies.

Microsoft makes its Security Copilot available to a selection of users. The company announced Security Copilot at the end of March. The tool is intended to bring generative AI, which you now know from ChatGPT and Co., into the world of cybersecurity.

Help for experts

Among other things, the tool must perform threat assessments of your organization looking for known vulnerabilities. If this is the case, the copilot makes recommendations for better securing the IT environment. Security experts can also ask the AI specific questions so that it can remove some of the complexity.

In addition, AI plays an active role and you can have the security data analyzed. In theory, this allows Copilot to detect unprecedented attacks in a timely manner. The AI integrates seamlessly with the Microsoft 365 Defender XDR platform, where you can get useful information about what’s on your screen in a bar on the right. Of course, you can also ask further questions in natural language.

Microsoft assumes that the Security Copilot will support existing – and usually chronically understaffed – specialists in the fulfillment of their tasks. Microsoft states that Preview customers can already save up to 40 percent time completing their core tasks by integrating AI.

Microsoft Security Copilot is initially only available as a closed preview. If you are interested in participating, you must contact Microsoft yourself.
