Microsoft will invest $3.2 billion over the next two years to expand its cloud computing and AI infrastructure in Australia.

This was reported by Bloomberg, according to a report from Ukrinform.

“This is our largest investment in Microsoft’s 40-year history in Australia and is a testament to our commitment to the country’s growth and prosperity in the age of AI,” Microsoft President Brad Smith said.

It was stated that the investment will allow Microsoft to increase the number of data centers in Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne from 20 to 29.

Additionally, the company will collaborate with the state of New South Wales on the creation of the Microsoft Data Center Academy, and will also collaborate with the intelligence agency Australian Signals Directorate in the field of cybersecurity.

According to Ukrinform’s report, the British anti-monopoly authority approved Microsoft’s agreement to purchase Activision Blizzard, producer of Call of Duty and World of Warcraft games, worth $69 billion.
