It is reported that the company has already tested the new feature among a limited number of people. It will allow users to create custom stickers from their own photos and, in some cases, from others’ photos. Although the company hasn’t said anything about it, they can be published on Reels and Stories and can also be sent via private messages in the future. It is preparing another feature for DM that will allow creating stickers using a text query for artificial intelligence.

The tool selects the object in the photo and removes the background, creating a free-floating sticker that can be placed over other content. It looks like a similar feature in Apple’s iOS.

Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, briefly demonstrated how this would work in a video posted on his channel. He also said that in addition to creating stickers from photos stored on the phone, users can also make them from “related images you see on Instagram.”

Mosseri did not share any details about when the feature would be available, but did say that the company is considering allowing users to ban stickers from their photos. A feature may change many times while it is being developed and tested.
