Co-founder and member of the Supervisory Board of the “Ukrainian Coworking Association”, senior real estate consultant CBRE Ukraine Anastasia Kachan told dev.ua about the evolution of the coworking environment and the measures taken to adapt to the recent crisis.

How has the coworking space market changed?

Following the start of the occupation, the co-working space market saw a significant decrease in occupancy. However, the market appears to be stabilizing and occupancy is currently hovering between 50% and 60%. This is a marked improvement from the period immediately following the occupation, when some co-working spaces were completely occupied during the power outage between October 2022 and January 2023.

Kachan suggests that despite uncertainty about future power outages, demand for coworking services will likely increase again if they occur. But he adds that this surge may be less intense than the first wave, as many users have adapted to operating during outages by investing in portable home power plants and generators.

In response to current challenges, the Ukrainian Coworking Association (AKU) has taken proactive measures to assist employees and businesses. AKU experts have updated a comprehensive map of coworking spaces in various cities of Ukraine, focusing on those equipped with generators and other necessary amenities.

The map contains important information about these coworking spaces, including the availability of power grids and internet providers, which is expected to be invaluable to professionals in the event of a power outage.

With the possibility of power outages looming, co-working spaces with generators and internet access are becoming increasingly vital for people looking to stay productive in harsh environments.
