The new option increases the video upload limit in the application from 10 minutes to 15 minutes.
Increasing the length of videos will give creators more time and opportunity to share videos that require more time, such as recipes, beauty tutorials, educational content, or comedy skits. Currently, if the video is longer than 10 minutes, the video is split into two parts. With this extended time limit, creators no longer need to create an entire video series when sharing content.
This change makes TikTok a bigger rival to YouTube by attracting longer-form content creators to the platform. In addition, TikTok will soon have the feature of downloading horizontal videos in full screen mode, which is currently being tested in certain regions, such as YouTube.
In February 2022, the company increased the maximum video length from three minutes to 10 minutes. Before this the limit was 15 seconds, then it was 60 seconds.
As reported by Ukrinform, social network TikTok is testing a chatbot with artificial intelligence “Tako” that can talk to users about short videos and help them find content.
