There is still a lot of work to be done on sanctions against the Russian Federation, as Moscow adapts to existing restrictions and looks for loopholes to further import Western components for weapons production, including using third countries.
This was stated by American international law expert Evgeny Vindman in an interview with Ukrinform.
“The Russians are finding loopholes in the sanctions regime, sourcing components from third countries, especially Central Asia. By the way, I have personally seen microcircuits in Russian weapons in forensic laboratories proudly marked “Made in the USA,” Vindman said.
The expert added that these components were used by the Russians in the production of weapons that “killed Ukrainians.”
Vindman believes that despite the unprecedented level of sanctions imposed by Ukraine’s Western partners against the aggressor, “they are not enough to stop Russia.”
Sanctions should be adapted and viewed as “an ongoing campaign, just like a military campaign, to stop the Russians and prevent their future subversive actions.”
It also includes preventing the import of Western technologies into Russia.
“Targeted measures against the Russian oil and gas industry and the high-tech sphere are necessary. As an analyst, I see the critical nodes of the Russian economy and military machine, and it is these nodes that should be the target of sanctions in order to force the military machine to collapse.” Vindman concluded his words.
As reported, the head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak emphasizes the need to impose sanctions against the Russian energy industry, military industry and technology.
Oleksandr Lysenko, a member of the International Sanctions Expert Group, believes that the diamond industry is one of the most important sources of finance for the Russian Federation, so it is important that the European Union bans the import of Russian diamonds in the 12th package. from sanctions.
Volodymyr Zablotskyi, a maritime expert, columnist for Defense Express magazine and researcher at the National Military History Museum of Ukraine, previously stated that Russia continues to build ships and helicopter carriers despite the sanctions imposed on it.
