Samsung has officially introduced its the new Galaxy Tab A9 series of tablets. They are aimed at the entry/mid range and will replace the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, which is two years old and showing the passage of time. And it is a highly competitive, competent and economical series, as we saw in the HONOR Pad X9 announcement. Not to mention Amazon Fire.
Samsung follows the same strategy on tablets as it does on smartphones. The “S” series for high-end devices that are able to compete with Apple’s iPads and Windows 2-in-1 devices without complexities, and the “A” series, which concerns us and is intended for tighter budgets, as announced by TM Roh, President and Director of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics:
“We want everyone to have the opportunity to experience the latest innovations in tablet technology… The latest launch of the Galaxy Tab A series makes it easier than ever for everyone to enjoy great entertainment and productive multitasking across the entire Galaxy ecosystem”.
Samsung operates the line two completely different versions, as we told you in August after the FCC’s passage. They were launched in the Indian market in the same month and are now making their way to the international market.
Basic model Galaxy Tab A9 It has an 8.9-inch LCD display with a native resolution of 1340 x 800 pixels and a refresh rate of 60Hz.It is powered by a Mediatek MT8781V/CA SoC with an octa-core CPU and a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. They can be equipped with 4 or 8 GB of memory and 64 or 128 GB for storage, expandable using microSD cards.
They feature Wi-Fi 5, 4G and Bluetooth 5.2, the usual set of sensors in tablets, plus support for geolocation with GPS/Galileo/Glonass. It has a rear camera (8 MP, AF, 1080p@30FPS video) and a 2 megapixel front camera. Its battery is 5100 mAh with 15W charging and there are stereo speakers and a USB Type-C port for charging and data.
It will be distributed in three colors (Graphite, Silver and Navy) with Android 13 pre-installed. No official price has been provided, but we are waiting for the environment 180 euros.
Galaxy Tab A9+ It increases in size, hardware level and price, starting with an 11-inch screen, FHD resolution and 90 Hz refresh rate. Its hardware engine is also boosted by Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G, Octa-core CPU (2x 2.2GHz Kryo 660 Gold & 6×1.7GHz Kryo 660 Silver) and Adreno 619 GPU.
The memory and storage configuration is the same, 64GB 4GB RAM, 128GB 8GB RAM. In terms of connectivity, 5G stands out, along with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 and the aforementioned sensors and GPS/Galileo/Glonass.
It has four speakers, a better front and rear camera than its younger brother and a battery with a larger capacity: 7,040 mAh. With Android 13 and the same color finishes (black, blue and silver), we have no information on the price. The new Samsung tablets are already available in some regions and should arrive in Spain soon.
