At least seven people died during mega-car, in which 158 participated vehicles on Interstate 55 in Louisiana, USA, caused by “super fog” The cause was smoke from swamp fires burning in the region.

This is stated in a statement by the Louisiana State Police. 25 people were injured and were transferred to nearby hospitals.

Governor John Bel Edwards called blood donors and asked to pray “for the wounded and killed.”

For several hours after the crash, emergency crews worked to clear debris from the northbound and southbound lanes, state police said.

Videos of the accident posted on social media show the chaos caused by the “super fog” that led to road full of broken carsone on top of the other, and there were cases when they were engulfed in flames.

In some places, visibility was almost zerowhich created dangerous driving conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, super fogs typically form when condensed water vapor mixes with smoke and moisture released by wet organic materials burning in a nearby fire, such as brush, leaves, and trees.

The National Weather Service issued a dense fog warning Monday morning for much of southeast Louisiana, including from Baton Rouge to New Orleans.
