Coalition 41 US states and the District of Columbia On Tuesday, they sued Meta (the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp) and argued that their social networks Instagram and Facebook are addictive and harmful to children.
This lawsuit is the most significant government effort to curb the impact of social media on the mental health of minors and force Meta to change the characteristics of its networks they claim it is dangerous for young users.
A total of 33 states, among others Colorado and California filed a joint lawsuit in federal court for the Northern District of California, while other attorneys general in Washington and eight states are filing separate complaints in federal, state or local courts.
