Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, its new high-end smartphone chipsets which promises a 30% faster CPU than the previous generation; 25% faster GPU and neural processing unit that doubles performance. And all this while maintaining consumption, as the manufacturer highlights improved efficiency in all areas.
Qualcomm is holding its Snapdragon Summit event this week, leaving us with some extremely interesting announcements such as the main Snapdragon product (mobile) and here we have what will be the flagship for next year.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: Features
Qualcomm says that the development goal of this ARM SoC, intended for the highest range of the market, was “deliver next-level performance in all mobile environments”, especially in mobile games that can reach 240 FPS. Memory. It supports up to 24 GB (an increase from the previous maximum of 16 GB) RAM in LPDDR5x format at 4800 Mhz.
AI – NPU. Neural processing unit Qualcomm Hexagon It promises twice the power and a power-to-watt ratio improved by up to 40% compared to the previous generation. The Qualcomm engine supports multi-modal generative artificial intelligence models and on-device computing for fast input and processing of text, speech and images.
ISP. It contains a triple 18-bit Qualcomm Spectra image signal processor and with AI support it will offer advanced functions for cameras such as Video Object Eraser or Photo Expansion, improving night vision for video shooting and other tasks. The SoC can also place cryptographic stamps to prove that your photos are real and not generated by artificial intelligence.
Connectivity. The strength of Qualcomm chips, which includes a modem for the occasion Snapdragon X75 5G integrated Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 wireless system with support for new wireless standards, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Availability
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be available in top phones from ASUS, Honor, iQOO, MEIZU, NIO, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, realme, Redmi, RedMagic, Sony, vivo, Xiaomi and ZTE. A notable absence from the list provided by Qualcomm: Samsung.
