Humane is an American startup founded five years ago by two former Apple executives. The company has now developed its first gadget, the AI ​​Pin.

Humane’s AI Pin is a small AI wearable that can be magnetically attached to clothing. It is the first gadget from the startup founded in 2018. The device works without a screen and runs on GPT-4 technology.

Human founders

Humane’s founders are Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, respectively designers and directors of software engineering at Apple in a previous career. According to their website, the two want to use their company to “build innovative technology that feels familiar, natural and human.”

With the AI ​​Pin, Humane now has its first gadget. The gem is screenless and is actually an AI assistant that you can wear on your clothes. To highlight this, the AI ​​Pin was introduced to the world on the catwalk of French fashion label Coperni during Paris Fashion Week.

Using GPT-4 and its own software, you can ask the AI ​​Pin questions, make calls or send messages, simply with your voice. A built-in camera records things around you and can provide information about what is being recorded.

A light display with that name TrustLight Emits a clear signal when the AI ​​Pin records audio or video, letting anyone near the wearer know. The device features a mini projector that can project information onto the wearer’s palm when necessary.

The AI ​​pin is not yet available, which would not be until November 9th. You can already register on the Humane site. However, that didn’t stop Time from declaring the device one of the best inventions of 2023.

The fact that Marc and Lynne Benioff, owners and co-chairs of Time, have invested in Humane will also play a role. Marc Benioff is also CEO and co-founder of Salesforce, an AI company.
