The Swedish Defense Materiel Administration has received the first serial JAS 39 Gripen E fighter jet designed for operational tests.
The warrior was handed over to the administration at the beginning of this month. Serial number is 6002. The aircraft joins two Gripen E prototypes planned to be tested before delivery.
Thus, the Saab company delivered three fighter jets to the customer. The Defense Equipment Directorate reported that all aircraft participated in the tests. If all goes as planned, deliveries will begin in 2025.
The Defense Engineering Directorate received the first production Gripen E fighter jet, almost four years after the Swedish aircraft made its first flight. It first rose into the sky in December 2019.
Saab has only two pickups. Apart from Sweden, which ordered 60 fighter jets, only Brazil showed interest in the Gripen E. The South American country became the first and only international customer by purchasing 36 aircraft. Source
