Cisco is working with Nvidia to develop more AI-driven hybrid solutions

In addition to a number of major upgrades for its AI systems, Cisco now also offers a complete package for video conferencing. This overall experience is part of the Room series and is called Room Kit EQX.

Hybrid working has become indispensable in many industries in recent years due to known circumstances. It seems that this relatively new way of working (for many companies) is here to stay. Combine that with the popularity and growth of AI and you get an interesting cocktail. Cisco wants to benefit from this and is strengthening its partnership with Nvidia for new ways of hybrid working, supported by AI.

At home in the office

We start with two numbers that Cisco divides. In the current professional environment, 98 percent of meetings are attended by someone remotely, according to the company. In contrast, only 15 percent of conference rooms are adequately equipped with video material, according to the video material manufacturer.

That’s why Cisco proposes the Room Kit EQX and the expansion of its Cinematic Meetings. Both are powered by Nvidia’s AI. The aim is to seamlessly combine work in the office and work from home. The various possible setups make the Room Kit EQX a flexible solution for every conference room.

All in the picture

There are already a few video systems from Cisco, but the Room Kit EQX is the most comprehensive to date. The screens can be hung on the wall or placed separately with a stand.

The system has intelligent audio, video and camera functions. These are intended to ensure less ā€œdistanceā€ between different people in a conversation, both on site and remotely.

The smart camera systems have multiple lenses and always keep an eye on everyone in the room. Each participant is displayed in the same size and the system automatically highlights the person speaking. The system automatically chooses the best camera angle.

In the improved cinematic meetings, the AI recognizes facial expressions and body language. You can choose whether you want participants to sit together in a picture or each individually in a frame. The system also ignores objects or people that are irrelevant to the focus. In fact, this is a virtual producer like in films that manages everything visually.

Room Kit EQX features spatial audio where AI automatically filters out unnecessary noise. The system is not only suitable for Webex, but also supports Microsoft Teams. IT teams can control everything through the Cisco Control Hub platform.

Cisco has also launched a range of wireless headphones in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen. With these innovations, the company is hoping for another positive quarter, around the second quarter.
