44% of Ukrainians spend most of their time texting with family and friends.
25% of survey respondents use it to read news.
7% of survey respondents stated that there is communication in business conversations.
5% communicate in group chats (student, student, home or apartment chat, etc.).
“Why do you spend the most time on Messenger?” The answers to the question were distributed as follows:
Communication with family and friends – 44%;
Viewing news takes the most time – 25%;
I communicate mostly at work – 7%;
Group chats related to education: student or student – 5%;
Entertainment content and/or hobby channels – 4%;
Group chats with neighbors – 1%;
Self-education: found many interesting channels for learning – 1%;
I mostly contact business and service support services – 1%;
None of the above, I spend almost no time on messengers – 12%.
It is worth noting that in June 2023, Rakuten Viber conducted a survey to find out how much time Ukrainians spend on the phone and how often they read the news. 39% of respondents spent 4-6 hours on their smartphones, while another 35% spent 1-2 hours. Additionally, one-third (27%) of respondents check the news at least once an hour, and 41% check the news once or twice a day.
