NASA’s Ingenuity helicopter on Mars has traveled the longest distance in the last 18 months.
This was reported by Space.com, according to Ukrinform’s report.
It was noted that Ingenuity made its 63rd flight of 579 meters to Mars. This was the farthest a Mars helicopter had traveled since April 8, 2022, when it flew 704 meters.
The last flight lasted 143 seconds. Ingenuity climbed to a height of 12 m and reached a speed of approximately 22.7 km/h.
As Ukrinform reported, in early October, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced the successful completion of the 61st flight of the Ingenuity helicopter to Mars. During the flight, it rose to a height of 24 meters, which is four meters more than the previous indicator.
The Ingenuity helicopter was delivered to the Red Planet aboard NASA’s Perseverance rover on February 18, 2021. Ingenuity made its first flight on April 19. The $85 million helicopter became the first aircraft launched to another planet.
