Results of the research
NordPass lists some of the passwords most frequently used by CEOs on its website. The data was collected “in partnership with independent researchers specializing in cybersecurity incident research.”
The first line in the CEO password is “123456”. Used 29,401 times.
The second comes after the word “password”. Used 22,511 times.
This is followed by “12345”. 11,867 times.
In the fourth place is the password “123456789”. 10,988 times.
Closes the first five “qwertys”. It has been applied 9,738 times.
Finally, in the 50th place – “777777”. 1,099 times.
Also among popular options you can find “DEFAULT”, “infoinfo”, “welcome”, “abc123”, “Switzerland”.
Such narrow-mindedness of leaders often has serious consequences. A Verizon report released last year found that 80 percent of data breaches are caused by weak passwords. The technological and financial sectors suffer the most.
CEOs also use popular names for their passwords, many of which refer to partners or loved ones, and Tiffany’s name is found in over 100,000 scraps Data from 290 million detected violation samples analyzed by NordPass for the study.
