In August, Samsung launched its next generation foldable devices. We have already analyzed both the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and the Galaxy Z Fold5, and it is clear that this year’s most interesting model is the ‘clamshell’ model, thanks to the development of its external display. Now Samsung wants to use nostalgia to increase sales of this model thanks to its retro version.
This is Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro Edition That doesn’t mean it’s too different from the standard version, but it’s a good nod to the South Korean company’s legendary SGH-E700. It will be a very limited edition but there is a way to get it in Spain. At least one similar.
A new generation mobile phone in the style of 20 years ago
In 2003 Samsung released the SGH-E700. This was a tremendous success for the company as it was the first South Korean mobile phone to surpass ten million units and also because one of its strong points was its OLED panel.
It was a clamshell phone with a color TFT screen inside, but 160 x 128 pixel OLED on the outside which allows you to see notifications, time or capture selfies while watching at a terrifying frame rate per second.
Still, it became an iconic mobile phone at the time, and 20 years later Samsung wants to honor him with a special edition Galaxy Z Flip5. We leave it below:
As you can see, it’s not a great customization and it’s actually nothing special. Its edges are silver and the back has a dark blue finish similar to the SGH-E700.
According to what we read on Sammobile, this Samsung Galazy Z Flip5 Retro Edition will be released in an extremely small print run and only in South Korea. However, if you really like it because you are a big fan of the E700, you can buy one from the Samsung online store in Spain in Blue with a similar finish but with black edges.
Beyond curiosity, these special editions for Samsung foldable devices are not new and the company’s interest in increasing sales of such devices. After all, we’re trying to democratize this technology, and special editions can provide support.
