Hamas says Israeli bombings in Gaza kill 50 hostages

Representative Al-Qassama Brigadesarmed hand Hamas, Abu Obeida announced this Thursday the death of about 50 hostages as a result of explosions in Israel on Gaza Strip, controlled by Palestinian Islamist group.

Abu Obeida made the announcement in a statement limiting his statement to the death of 50 “Israeli prisoners” in airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, without providing further details.

Previously Spokesperson Israeli army, Daniel Hagari this Thursday increased to 224 the number of hostages from his country taken by Hamas during the attack on Israel on October 7, which left 1,400 people dead and about 5,000 injured.

However, last week Abu Obeida said they had a total of 250 hostages – 200 held by al-Qassam Brigades and 50 by other Palestinian militias.

Hamas has released four hostages in recent days: mother and daughter Judith and Natalie Raanan, who have American citizenship and were released on Friday, and elderly Israelis Yochved Lifshitz and Nurit Cooper, who were released by Hamas this Monday.

More than half of the hostages have passports from about 25 countries, according to data provided by the Israeli government on Wednesday. At least 54 people of Thai nationality were among those abducted.

Since the Hamas attack on October 7, Israel has bombed the Gaza Strip daily, killing at least 7,028 Palestinians and injuring 18,484, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
