Archaeologists announced that they found the ruins of Noah’s Ark

Archaeologists believe they are one step closer to confirming the burial site of Noah’s Ark. A team excavating a geological formation in Turkey obtained ancient rock and soil samples that they believe contain a shipwreck from the period when the Great Flood in the Bible was written 5000 years ago.

The project started in 2021 and is still ongoing, but initial analysis showed that the samples contained clay and marine materials as well as seafood.

According to the researchers, these results indicate that the boat-shaped mound dates back to B.C. It means that human activity was present between 5500 and 3000 BC. The Bible states that the ark rested on “Mount Ararat” in Turkey after a 150-day flood that submerged the entire world and all life on it that was not inside the wooden ark.

The geological formation located in the Doğubayazıt district of Ağrı province has been a potential protected area since its discovery in 1956.

This mountain is the highest peak in Turkey, its height exceeds 5 thousand meters and its shape resembles a ship. The ship is said to have measured “300 cubits, 50 cubits and 30 cubits”, meaning it was up to 157 meters long, 26 meters wide and 16 meters high.

A team of experts led by Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Andrew University and Agra Ibrahim Chechen University (AICU) worked in the area for about a year and collected samples they believe are key to confirming the biblical story. The first part of their work began in December 2022, with the collection of 30 rock samples and soil fragments, which were analyzed in the ITU laboratory.

AICU Vice Rector Prof. Faruk Kaya said, “According to the first research results, human activities in the region continue from the Eneolithic Age, between 5500-3000 BC.”

It is known that Noah’s flood started 5000 years ago. When it comes to dating, it is claimed that there was life in this region. This became clear as a result of laboratory research. It is not possible to say that the ship here is dated. “We need to work for a long time to discover this,” he said.

At the same time, other scientists believe that Mount Ararat could not have been the location of the ship, as the mountain was formed only after the flood waters receded. It should also be noted that most scientists and archaeologists do not believe in a literal interpretation of the Ark’s story, although they consider it to be a historical event. Source
