Google has agreed to invest nearly $2 billion in Anthropic, an artificial intelligence startup founded by former OpenAI executives.

This was reported by CNBC, according to a report from Ukrinform.

Google’s commitment includes an upfront cash injection of $500 million and a later deposit of $1.5 billion, according to a spokesperson for Anthropic.

Anthropic is the developer of Claude 2, a chatbot that competes with ChatGPT.

Claude 2 is capable of outputting up to 75,000 words of text (almost like a book). Users can enter large data sets and request summaries in the form of notes, letters, or stories.

ChatGPT can currently handle approximately 3,000 words.

Antropik was founded in 2021. At the beginning of the year, it was worth $4.1 billion.

As reported by Ukrinform, Microsoft will invest $3.2 billion over the next two years in expanding cloud computing and AI infrastructure in Australia.
