And that was not easy, because what they showed us so far was very promising, some statements showed a lot of confidence and of course we are also talking about a title that restores the spirit of a game that, for many of us, completely captivated us thirteen years ago.

No matter who likes it Consoles always lag behind PCs in terms of performance. This is still refuted by many, but when it comes to pressure, that is, when evaluating the performance of its components, both separately and together, the reality is inescapable. It is of course true that an extremely optimized title can look spectacular in the current generation, but I repeat, we are not talking about performance here, we are talking about optimization.

I say this because when Remedy recently stated that Alan Wake 2 will arrive fully optimized for the current generation, indirectly We also understand that three quarters of the same will happen with its PC version. Now it also made us question whether Remedy’s published requirements for PC are real, or on the contrary, and as my colleague Isidro pointed out, really inflated, and thus could be enjoyed with lower configurations. than listed and/or get higher performance than expected based on them.

We didn’t have to wait long, we already have the answer and it seems that our colleague was indeed right. And Digital Foundry released a video to confirm it, The actual technical requirements of Alan Wake 2 seem to be lower than those listed by Remedy. The video also shows us excellent graphics, more than optimal performance and from what we can see and what the reviews already published tell us, it’s a great game.

To give just one example, Wccftech reports that according to the specs, a computer with a GeForce RTX 3070 could only achieve 60fps at 1080p using DLSS (in performance mode and upscaling from 540p) and with mid-level graphics. However, their evidence shows that This graphics can provide more than 80 frames per second with 1440p resolution using DLSS in balanced mode. So the difference is more than significant.

Why increase the requirements? Good question. If it was an exclusive making the jump to PC, you’d think it would be overstating the performance of its original console, but that’s not the case with Alan Wake 2. I’m more inclined to think that after a good collection of fiascos that we’ve been through lately lived for a few years, Remedy did not want to hold its fingers, and therefore aimed very high, so as not to disappoint users after launch. It’s not an ideal technique, of course, but at least it’s more considerate of the players than the opposite extreme.
