The retro surname of this Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro already sets us straight, REAL? Although this tells us where the shots are headed, a little more information is needed to know what this special edition is made of and what is retro about it, so taking one of the brand’s star devices and retrofitting it, technologically speaking, in time of the past, would was difficult to explain. But no, don’t worry, they didn’t choose this path.
How do you know, The Galaxy Z Flip5 was introduced last Julytogether with the Galaxy Z Fold5, which completes the offer of smartphones with a foldable display, in which the Flip5 is the smallest model that reproduces the clamshell design so common between the end of the nineties and the first decade of this century, while the Fold5 is the one that is folded, with a screen size corresponding to current smartphones (6.2 inches), but when unfolded it gets bigger (7.6 inches) with a form factor much closer to square.
Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro Samsung wanted to pay tribute and appeal to the nostalgia of users who used at that time Samsung SGH-E700, a phone that came to market 20 years ago and that it became a global bestseller in 2003 to the extent that for many users it was the first contact with Samsung in the mobile phone market. It had a clamshell design, had a small secondary screen on the outside (64 x 96 pixels compared to the main screen, 128 x 160 pixels) and included a VGA resolution camera (640 x 480 pixels). These data seem like nothing and less from today’s perspective, but in its time it was a really remarkable phone with a very attractive design.
So, The Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro pays homage to the Samsung SGH-E700, but it apparently does so not by replicating its specs, but by some exclusive features. Specifically, these are three Flipsuit cards with logos from different periods of Samsung’s history, a Flipsuit case and a collector’s card with an engraved unique serial number. And as I already indicated at the beginning, we are talking about a limited edition, which is why it will certainly please many collectors. In addition, it also features an unforgettable indigo blue and silver color combination, which is a reinterpretation of the UX design inspired by 2000s pixel graphics, and an exclusive Flex Window annotation.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro was indeed unveiled last week, but at the time it seemed that its marketing would be limited to the local market, South Korea, but today Samsung surprised by announcing that It will be available in other regions, including Spainalong with Germany, Australia, Korea, France and the United Kingdom.
In all these markets It will go on sale next November 1e except for France, where it will debut a day later. We also don’t know yet what its price will be, given that it hasn’t been published on Samsung’s website yet, although they have already published its support page, which is undoubtedly priced.
