New US sanctions

For its part, the United States responded by emphasizing through a State Department spokesperson: Matthew Millerthat “the Guatemalan people have spoken” and that “their voices should be respected.”

Washington pointed the finger at Guatemalan prosecutors for attempting to prevent the peaceful transfer of power in Guatemala, recalling how they confiscated election materials in the custody of the TSE, and demanded the resignation of authorities responsible for ensuring the right to peaceful freedom. protest.
