He Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) of Guatemala completed the 2023 election process on Tuesday as planned, thereby making the results of the August elections officialin which, despite everything, the candidate of the Semilla movement won, Bernardo Arevalo.

In a TSE note, he noted.

In accordance with the electoral calendar and in compliance with the legal framework (…), the election results were recognized as valid and, as a result, the electoral process was completed, and the results of the general elections and the results of the elections of representatives of the Central American Parliament of 2023 were officially announced.

TSE also recognizes the work of more than 125 thousand citizens who served on the electoral commissions in the first and second rounds and who contributed to the organization and conduct of these elections, the results of which, the document emphasizes, are “immutable,” thereby guaranteeing the Alternation of Power and Democracy.

With this decision, TSE dismisses the claim filed by several civil society organizations and some political parties that They intended to extend the election period until January 15.in order to prevent the prosecutor’s office from questioning Arevalo’s assumption of office.

So Arevalo and Vice President-elect Karin Herrera are scheduled to take office on Jan. 14, along with other elected officials if prosecutors try to overturn Seed movementwho are accused of violations during its formation, with the inclusion of deceased people among its members.
