After all, the life cycle of Twitter circles was quite short and since it never seems to have achieved the expected success, it is likely that you were not aware of its existence until now. If this is the case, we are talking about a feature that began to be publicly tested in May of last year, and which just three months later completed its testing phase and was fully deployed, allowing all users of the social network to use it.

Its operation was quite simple,It allowed you to select a maximum of 150 Twitter users, which would be the only audience that could see the messages we posted for the circle. As I mentioned at the time, it was an interesting move to replicate the controlled reach of publications that Facebook offers, but with the difference that in the case of circles it was possible to add people even if they did not follow us.

During the first months of its existence Twitter circles have not achieved much relevance and unfortunately, the first time we talked about them again, it was to announce an important failure in them, because some of the publications that theoretically should only be seen by members of the circle were actually visible from a universal point of view. . And what did Twitter do? Wait about a month before confirming the incident to affected users. Even then I indicated the reason why I found this course of action more than reprehensible.

Twitter is removing circles, could this be the problem?

As I indicated at the beginning of this news, Twitter circles are no longer available and this can basically be seen as a minor novelty, because as I indicated earlier, this feature does not seem to have aroused enormous interest from users (although we should not rule out that it really was, and that as a result, Elon Musk removed it to he later added it to Twitter Blue’s exclusive benefits) and of course it makes sense that the unused feature was removed. There is nothing to object to at this point.

Now, since the massive layoffs at the end of last year The functioning of the social network is quite unstable on a technical leveland atrocities like the server transfer that occurred early last year demonstrate the little importance Musk places on the technology platform (yes, the same one he wants to replace banks in late 2024).

So if messages that were deleted by their authors “magically” reappeared a few months ago, it doesn’t seem too risky to think that sooner or later, messages published in circles become completely public. We can assume that if this happens it will be a coincidence, but we should also assume that it will happen sooner or later, so our recommendation if you have been using circles is that you delete all publications aimed at them and you don’t want them to become public. Yes, it’s possible it won’t happen, but given Twitter’s recent performance, risking everything on that card doesn’t seem like the best option.
