In some cases, users receive this message from YouTube about ad blockers but still continue watching the video, in other cases, YouTube now completely blocks playback every time.
YouTube confirmed in June that it was disabling video for ad blocker users, but Lawton described it at the time as just a “little global experiment.” For now, YouTube has stepped up the fight. Over the past few weeks, an increasing number of users with ad blockers installed are reporting that they cannot watch videos.
Lawton claimed that the “use of ad blockers” violated the platform’s terms of service, adding that “advertising supports a diverse ecosystem of creators around the world, enabling billions of people to access their favorite content on YouTube.” Source
