On the morning of November 1, China successfully launched into space a new Earth remote sensing satellite belonging to the “Tianhui” series, also known as “mapping satellites”.

Xinhua reported this, as reported by Ukrinform.

A modified version of the Long March-6 launch vehicle carrying the Tianhui-5 satellite was launched from the Taiyuan Cosmodrome in northern China’s Shanxi Province at 6:50 a.m. local time (0:50 a.m. Kiev time), successfully launching the spacecraft to the designated location. orbit.

The satellite is planned to be used for geographical mapping, research of land resources, conducting scientific experiments and other purposes.

Today’s launch was the 494th mission of the Long March launch vehicle series. This liquid-fueled three-stage rocket, with a maximum diameter of 3.4 m and a length of 29 m, has the capacity to launch up to 1 ton of payload into Earth orbit.

China is actively developing its national space program by developing meteorology, telecommunications and navigation satellites, as well as lunar research and development technologies. Chinese experts are simultaneously carrying out a project to study asteroids and Mars.

The construction of the Chinese space station “Tiangong” in Earth orbit has been completed and is ready to participate in international cooperation in space exploration.

China broke its own record by carrying out 64 launches in 2022, ranking second after the USA.

China plans to carry out more space missions within the framework of various space programs this year and exceed last year’s achievements.

As reported by Ukrinform, Chinese astronauts from the Shenzhou-16 manned mission successfully returned to Earth after five months in space at the Tiangong orbital station.
