Micron introduced the new Crucial T500 SSD in two variants, for personal computers and for consoles such as the PlayStation 5.

The Crucial T500 connects to the interface PCI 4.0. You already know that the new Gen5, although there are already versions from some integrators for sale, has been greatly delayed by the big players in the sector (WD, Samsung or Kioxia) who have not yet launched a solution for it.

In any case, its performance is more than sufficient, so storage is not a bottleneck, and the new Crucial SSDs achieve data transfer speeds of up to 7,400 MB/s and 7,000 MB/s sequential read/writeand random read/write up to 800K/1390K IOPs.

The drive uses the M.2 format with NVMe support and mounts Micron 232-layer 3D NAND memory. The manufacturer offers two versions. One with a cooler that is specifically aimed at expanding the storage capacity of PlayStation 5 consoles or desktop computers.

The second version without a cooler is used for laptops or desktops that already have their own coolers on their motherboards.

Micron makes installation easy with online tutorials, tutorials, videos, and Acronis True Image cloning software to help you install, configure as a bootable drive, and migrate data.

The Crucial T500 is available internationally with storage capacities 500 GB, 1 and 2 bytes. The 4TB version is due to be launched in 2024. Currently, the most interesting version in terms of capacity/price is the 2TB version, which is priced at €202 in Spain. And if you want more, Microsoft has PCIe 5.0-capable drives for sale with the Crucial T700. Of course, the price is much higher.
